Our goal is to help you get started on a plan, which will help you to recognize what direction you should take in your weight loss strategies. When I think of all the factors to consider and all the possible directions to take it does seem as if we are facing a mountain of information. Yet, taken step by step, taking time to figure out what your body is all about, you can formulate a plan that will get you lasting results! Just remember you are an individual, your body, diet, lifestyle, etc. is different from anyone else so it makes sense that a program of weight loss for you may be very different from that of one of your friends or family.
When we start on the path towards weight loss the first area of concern that I like to focus on is cleansing. We live in a country of excess - excess fats, sugars, chemicals, and hormones. These foods overload the body with chemicals and give very little if any nutritional value.
When we are missing certain nutrients in our diet our metabolisms become changed - usually slowed - the thyroid ceases to function properly , and the body is unable to balance blood sugar levels, the result more weight gain and uncontrolled food cravings. Lack of energy and motivation usually follows.
Toxins are also a notable culprit in the area of weight gain & loss. If the body is overloaded by toxins and unable to eliminate them, it has no choice but to store some of these toxins. The body needs to get them out of the bloodstream where they can poison your cells. These toxins are sent to fat cells to be stored until the body can deal with them. When people are loosing weight but then hit a plateau where they can’t seem to lose any more, this is often because the body in unable to deal with the toxins stored in the fat tissues. So in order to loose weight, at some point in time, you will need to cleanse the body and restore proper function to the eliminative channels. To better understand the problem lets focus on the importance of cleansing.
Our body has four channels of elimination the Lungs, Kidneys, Colon, and Skin. The typical American diet eaten over a period of years is going to create a lot of waste products and contain a lot of chemicals that the body simply isn’t designed to handle. When one of these channels of elimination become clogged symptoms appear such as, mucus congestion in the lungs and sinus when the colon is clogged, and skin problems when the liver, and colon get congested. Recently I had a woman approach me in regards to her 14-year-old who was having trouble with excessive sweating, they had tried numerous antiperspirants none of which helped. Now remembering that the skin is an eliminative organ, I had to look for what other channel might be blocked. Upon asking about bowel movements she responded that she only had one every couple weeks. To keep the colon healthy you should be having bowel movements 2-3 times per day, so as you can see with out this elimination channel working the skin had to take some of the load by trying to get rid of the toxins by way of sweating. To solve this problem we eliminated much of the white flour products from her diet and added in lots of fiber rich fruits and vegetables along with some herbs to help clean the intestinal tract. Your body will give you symptoms when it becomes congested and overloaded, the most common are going to come from the area of the liver. Look at the following symptoms that your body will give you when your liver is overloaded with toxins that it is unable to break down and eliminate properly. If your body is in a need of cleansing it is very likely you are suffering from several of the symptoms on this list:
“Flu-like” symptoms, nausea, diarrhea, stiff & aching muscles, cold hands and feet, headaches, gallbladder attacks, tenderness or swelling under the right rib cage, dizziness, puffy eyelids , skin eruptions, difficulty falling asleep (late night energy) followed by difficulty waking in the morning, chronic fatigue, low blood sugar, PMS, Food Allergies, Immune system weakness, candida, poor bowel elimination, Gas & indigestion, poor fat digestion, “Liver” brown spots on the skin.
Back to our subject of weight loss, I feel that
anyone in need of losing weight is also in need of cleansing. When you improve the bodies elimination channels by cleansing the body will automatically start to release stored toxins from the fat cells, it will also, because of the increased elimination begin to release the stored fat in these cells. You will also loose a good amount of water weight that has been trapped in cells as well.
